The Edison PTA completes a variety of tasks/activities.
Providing Learning Resources – The PTA purchases subscriptions to online learning programs (IXL, RAZ Kids, ect), magazine subscriptions and reading materials for classrooms and the school library.
Supporting Classroom Learning - The PTA funds are used to support teachers and students by providing equal paraprofessional time to all classrooms.
Supporting Families - Through online and in-person events, the PTA hosts speakers to engage all families in supporting students.
Community Events – The PTA is proud to bring the Edison student body, teachers, and families together for events such as Fall Festival, Field Day, Enrichment Day, and the Science Fair. The PTA also supports our students by providing the funds for Tutoring and Enrichment (before and after school programs/clubs) Scholarship Programs.
Financial Support to Edison Elementary School – Fundraising events such as the Eagle Run, Read-a-Thon, and EdFest allow the Edison PTA to fund enrichment and support programs for the Edison staff and students.
Engaging Community Volunteers- Without the PTA's community volunteers, these great programs would not exist.
The Edison PTA has three big fundraisers where we ask for help from our community.
Eagle Run September 26, 2025
This is a fun event where every student tries to run as many laps around the field as they can. This fundraiser raises money for a fundamental cause at Edison -- paraprofessionals in the school! Paraprofessionals play a valuable role in elementary school classrooms by providing additional support to teachers and students. They assist in various ways to enhance the learning environment and help ensure that all students receive the attention and guidance they need. Here's how paraprofessionals help in the elementary classroom:
Individualized Support: Paraprofessionals can work with individual students who may need extra assistance due to learning disabilities, language barriers, or other challenges. They can provide one-on-one support, re-teach concepts, and help reinforce classroom instructions.
Small Group Instruction: Paraprofessionals often lead or assist in small group activities, allowing for differentiated instruction. This approach allows students to work at their own pace and receive targeted support based on their individual needs.
Behavior Management: Paraprofessionals can help manage classroom behavior by reinforcing positive behaviors and redirecting negative behaviors. They can implement behavior intervention strategies and provide consistent support to help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
Material Preparation: Paraprofessionals can help prepare instructional materials, set up learning stations, and organize classroom resources. This ensures that lessons run smoothly and that teachers have more time to focus on instruction.
Assistance for Students with Special Needs: Paraprofessionals play a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities or special needs. They may help with tasks such as mobility assistance, communication support, and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
Assisting with Classroom Management: Paraprofessionals can assist teachers in managing classroom routines, transitions, and maintaining an organized classroom environment.
Providing Feedback to Teachers: Paraprofessionals often work closely with teachers and can provide valuable insights about students' progress, strengths, challenges, and behavior. This feedback helps teachers make informed instructional decisions.
Supporting Inclusion: Paraprofessionals play a key role in facilitating the inclusion of students with disabilities into mainstream classrooms. They collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and create an inclusive environment where all students can learn together.
Building Relationships: Paraprofessionals often develop strong relationships with students, providing them with an additional trusted adult in the classroom. This rapport can help students feel more comfortable asking for help and participating in classroom activities.
Assisting with Technology: In today's classrooms, technology is often integrated into instruction. Paraprofessionals can provide technical support to both teachers and students, ensuring that educational technology is used effectively.
Overall, paraprofessionals bring valuable skills and support to elementary classrooms, helping to create a more inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for all students. This is one of the biggest fundraisers we do at Edison. All the money raised from Eagle Run goes directly to the paraprofessional campaign. We would love to raise $80,000+, which is about $160 per student. You can donate to a student for each lap they run or just a general donation. You will see more information about Eagle Run in the coming weeks.
Eagle Read-A-Thon (Winter Break)
The Read-A-Thon is a fundraiser for Books in the Edison Library, Class Libraries, and for subscriptions that the students use in addition to physical reading materials.
It is also a way to keep our students reading during the Winter Break.
Kids keep a log of how many minutes they read and gain pledges per minute.
Because of this simple fundraiser...our libraries have wonderful books in them, and we are able to get fun subscriptions for the kids to use to help with reading.
EdFest (Spring, Adult Party)
Edfest is our adults-only fundraiser!
We have wonderful auction items to help raise money for the general PTA Fund.
Each Class makes a basket to be auctioned off, in addition to awesome auction items from the community.
The PTA General Fund funds field trips, tutoring, teacher appreciation week, enrichment scholarships, and much more.
Last year we were able to raise money to purchase new permanent soccer goals for the school.
